My 20 Favorite Television Shows 1. Buffy
the Vampire Slayer Liza Marshall's Commentary My main criterion for this list was that the shows had to be shows that I can watch now and enjoy. There are countless numbers of TV shows that I've loved in the past that don't hold the same interest for me today. 1. Buffy the Vampire Slayer -- Full of fighting, friends, funnies, and vampires. BTVS is able to make me laugh and make me cry. Just an all in all great show. 2. Angel -- Angel has all of the same qualities as BTVS and might one day surpass it as my #1. A darker show, in general, it still makes me laugh. 3. Sex and the City -- I don't know why I like this show so much. I don't really have the same kind of discussions with my friends that they do, but that doesn't matter to me. 4. NewsRadio -- One of the funniest shows with the best ensemble cast. Dave Foley, Andy Dick, and Phil Hartman. All ridiculously funny people. 5. Family Guy -- My favorite animated series. One of my favorite comedies. Gi-giddy, gi-giddy, gi-giddy. 6. Friends -- After all these years, I still love Friends. I watch at least a few re-runs every week. It doesn't matter if I've seen the episode once or six times. They still make me laugh. 7. Law and Order -- Gong-gong. Need I say more? 8. E/R -- I like the drama and the fast-paced action. I like doctor shows. 9. Queer Eye for the Straight Guy -- I like makeovers. I like redecorating. This show combines both. After watching this show last week, I looked in the mirror and had a huge grin. I'm not ashamed. 10. The Kids in the Hall -- They're guys who wear dresses! How wacky! Just a funny, funny show with funny, funny guys doing funny, funny sketches. 11. What Not to Wear -- Again, I like makeovers. A lot. They take regular people with regular bodies and show them how to look better. I'm hoping it will sink in. 12. Felicity -- If it's on the WB, chances are I'll love it. Sappy at times, this show still made me care. 13. Trauma: Life in the ER -- Real-life drama, blood, surgery. I just saw a guy who wrecked his motorcycle and had a 3-limb amputation. He was left with one leg and he left the ER with a smile of his face. 14. Dawson's Creek -- Another WB show. Unrequited teenage love. Sure the dialogue was a little pretentious, but who cares? I knew Joey would end up with Dawson. 15. Everwood -- This is a new one for me. Only on the air for a year. I've become a big fan of Treat Williams. A family moves from NYC to a small town in Colorado after the mother dies. I was skeptical at first, but after the first episode I was hooked. 16. Seinfeld -- I never really watched this when it was on prime-time, but I've become a big fan in syndication. A show about nothing. Just like my life. I can relate. 17. Trading Spaces -- Hello. Redecorating. Times two. 18. That 70s Show -- Rusty is Eric Foreman. What's not to love? 19. Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher -- Bill Maher is pretty funny. I felt like I actually learned something when I watched this show. And I liked it. 20. House Hunters -- I've got this fascination with empty houses and apartments. I'm always like "Wow! I want to live there!" At the end of the show, the payoff is seeing how the homebuyers decorated and made the house their own. |
