Matt Little's Commentary

1. Miami Vice -- I ruined the We Like Media website with this one. Sorry, Rusty. There's a certain face that I make whenever I'm amazed by something. I made this face regularly when watching this show both as a kid and now.

2. Seinfeld -- I can look at any episode and tell you what season it aired in and can probably tell you the name. I'm the Comic Book Guy. This show is practically my lexicon for life. I'm serious.

3. The Kids in the Hall -- I think this was the show that desensitized me to most of the things that I should think are immoral. If it weren't hilarious every step of the way, that would be a problem.

4. The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson -- This show taught me to appreciate dry humor at a very early age.

5. Late Night with David Letterman -- There are so many great things about this show, but how could bringing a major Hollywood actor/actress on as a guest, asking them about the clip from their new movie that we're about to see, and then showing a clip of Paul Schaeffer eating cereal not be funny?

6. Saturday Night Live -- I love it--Piscopos and all. Why did no one think Joe Piscopo was funny?

7. Cheers -- I don't watch this show as much as I should in reruns now. It's the kind of humor that you can kind of melt into. I always felt good about myself while watching it.

8. Knight Rider -- I'm a sucker for nostalgia, and I think I still like this show just because I didn't miss an episode when I was a kid. I still enjoy watching it, but I don't try to trick myself into believing it's good.

9. The Dukes of Hazzard -- Yeah, I put two car shows back-to-back. What are you going to do?

10. The Wonder Years -- It made me feel like I grew up in the late 60s/early 70s. They must have done something right to accomplish that.

11. The Ben Stiller Show -- Not many people remember this one, but geez; he did a take-off on an Anthony Robbins infomercial that was/is pure gold.

12. The Price is Right -- PLINKO!

13. Sportcenter -- Apparently, I'm the only sports fan around here. This show is quite entertaining and funny, even after 25,000 episodes.

14. Action -- I saw this maybe once when it originially aired, but I caught all the episodes (eight, maybe?) during Trio's "Brilliant But Canceled" feature a few months ago. I don't understand why Jay Mohr can't hold down a steady job. He's underappreciated.

15. NFL Primetime -- More meathead jock fare... It's worth it. Chris Berman has been doing the same jokes for fifteen years and it's still funny.

16. The Tom Green Show -- Tom paying for expensive items with pennies is the biggest illustration of my fundamental life philosophy. I've been a fan from that point on.

17. 24 -- I don't know that the show is all that good, but the concept has me hooked. Also, I've never caught every episode of another series every week during the week that it airs like I have this.

18. WKRP in Cincinnati -- ... Except for the "Very Special WKRP" where they thought the remote station exploded. That one scared me.

19. Three's Company -- I started watching it again in reruns. I watched it pretty regularly as a kid. I can't believe I was allowed to watch it. I wouldn't let my children watch anything as racy as this was even today.

20. The Daily Show with Craig Kilborn -- I liked the fake cockiness of Craig. Jon Stewart's humor and tone are way too predictable, even though he's funny more than half the time. Stephen Colbert and Steve Carrell really make it hard not to include the current show, but the newness of the Kilborn days is hard to beat. Plus, Jon Stewart is just a lousy interviewer. At least Kilborn was open about the fact that he wasn't very interesting in what his guests had to say.

Honorable Mention:

The Simpsons -- I'm the opposite of Rusty; the last five years (or so) of this show have pretty much ruined all the rest of it for me.

The Idiot Box

The Family Guy -- Everything Rusty said...
