Dune

Tommy Burton -- This is the original David Lynch version and not the Sci-Fi Channel version. This film has had a varied history. First off, it is a complicated story that is hard to condense into two-and-a-half hours. I think Lynch pulled it off, but it requires attention. This isn't the kind of film to toss off in the background while you're playing Scrabble. By all means, avoid the extended version. Lynch removed his name from that cut, and with good reason. It's dreadful. The DVD is pretty basic. You get the widescreen version and a trailer. But this is probably all you'll get out of this film as it is panned by most.
