City Walk The City Walk section of Universal Orlando isn't so much a park as it is an entrance and exit, and for that reason and others it works. Where Disney World treats their similar Pleasure Island as a separate park that costs extra, anyone can stroll into the City Walk, whether they're going to the other two parks or not. What works best is that both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure close at 7:00, but City Walk is open late into the night, so it serves as something extra to do if you're not ready to go home yet. Of course, the restaurants and entertainment here aren't anything too special, nothing you'd go out of your way to experience if you weren't already here. The Cineplex is nice, but so are others in Orlando. The restaurants are those big theme restaurants like Pat O'Brien's, Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville, Emeril's, NBA City, Hard Rock Cafe, and NASCAR Cafe, which are interesting in their own way, but don't necessarily have the best food and are too pricey. But, again, as a free area with a pleasant atmosphere (the overall look of the place is beautiful, with a big lake in the middle) with a place to kill time and do some shopping, see a movie, watch some street shows, or even go dancing, it's a cool place. |
